DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE
We have received information from a very reliable source that the first 10 westerners have already been deported for having alcohol on their breath during random stops by the Police with breathalyzers. It may seem a bit harsh, but people caught can expect the following treatment. Random stops by the Police, no reason required. Immediately taken to deportation centre. Within 24 hours these 10 people were put on any available flight out of Qatar, not necessarily to their home country. Some of the people deported, still have their families here, and are not given time to even pack a suitcase. This may seem a bit harsh, but there is ZERO tolerance. It may be worth remembering that the breathalyzers will
detect any amount of alcohol, even from kissing someone who has had a drink and you have not!! They are not like in the UK where they detect a certain amount of booze on your breath to decide if you are over the limit or not...... Don't want to frighten people, but the above is fact. If in doubt GET A TAXI.interesting how we went from living in the binge drinking capital to one of the driest places in the world! cheers! :)

Hi Mike & Kris,
It sounds "harsh" but I'll bet there are no accidents caused by drunk drivers too !!! What happens to the Qatarians who are caught?
All is well at home.
Love you,
