friday afternoon/evening we went to watch the women's quarter finals for the qatar total open tennis tournament. it is a tier one event with 2.5 million USD prize money - the biggest purse in all tennis tournaments!!
at the time it seemed like the perfect day to watch tennis - nice and sunny but not too hot...however, that changed quite quickly!! as soon as the sun went down, the wind picked up making it very 'chilly' up in the stands.
we ended up watching one match between agnieszka radwanska and dominika cibulkova - which took close to 3 hours...amazing how great of shape they are in!!
tennis is a sport i would love to take up just to wear the cute outfits, hehe...although i would have to get the body to go with them first!!
next up was the ever so talented maria sharapova playing dane wozniacki. it would have been great to have watched the entire match however, we surrendered to the cold shortly into it and headed out in search of a warm restaurant (us canadians are turning into wimps when it comes to the cold...actually i was always one!). rest assured, by the time we left mike had taken ample shots of sharapova - the zoom function was in overdrive!! below, i have shared a very small fraction of the shots of her with you...

we should have been moving into our condo this weekend but it didn't happen...again! apparently, the paint works has delayed things and it will not be ready for move in until tomorrow (sunday). unfortunately, this coincides with mike's business trip so we planning on moving in thursday evening upon his return. what's another week really in the whole scheme of things???
on a more positive note, it did give us an opportunity to go watch tennis and a chance to go shopping for more condo necessities. mike and i went out this afternoon and ticked a few more things off the list! i remember writing in one of my earlier blogs that we are going to take advantage of NOT having an ikea here...well, scratch that - we wish there was one!! it is so difficult to find 'cool' stuff - it is either tacky and cheap or just plain over the top! in the end we did manage to find some nice dishes and glassware.
so, no mike for 4 days :( he is in cannes, france with scott attending seminars, workshops, etc. joanne and i are holding down the fort - when the cat's away...ha, just kidding!! i did have the option of accompanying him but the 12 hour flight (including the stop overs), the 17 degree weather and the fact that i probably won't see mike at all didn't appeal to me especially since i have been there before. i think i would rather stay put and enjoy the dry desert heat and be well rested. will miss him though...hurry back.

Gee Kris - you are getting so educated!!! Re the tennis body-- it will come after you play hard. Glad the condo thing is getting sorted out. It will be nice to have your own place before you start work. Love you .
