my most exciting blog yet!!!

still sticking with the wedding theme - i am utterly thrilled to announce that mike and i are FINALLY engaged!!! :)))))

so, with that said you are perhaps wondering - when? where? how? - and of course, i am going to share those details with you...

WHEN? very EARLY morning of wed. july 29th - 12:30ish am
WHERE? kempinski hotel, dubai - after a wonderful evening out...

we enjoyed a delicious dinner at pai thai in the madinat jumeirah resort. we had to take an 'abras' aka boat through the resort's waterways to arrive at the restaurant. very authentic (i think!).

after dinner we made our way over to the burj al arab hotel - the hotel shaped like a sail and the only 7* hotel in the world. here we had reservations at the skyview bar located on the 27th floor (200 metres above the sea). if you reference the picture below, the bar is located in the jetted out section on the left hand side - just opposite the helicopter pad on the right hand side... the view was spectacular, i can only imagine how impressive the view during the day would be! the bar/lounge was a definite tourist attraction - a must see but a place you wouldn't frequent often. the decor was extremely tacky due to the combination of colours, finishes, lighting and furniture selections. in fact, the entire hotel seemed to finished in the same impressive but tacky way! everything i learned in design school - out the window!!! we had an amazing time though sipping our champagne, listening to the live band and counting how many times our champagne cooler changed (see right in picture)...by the way, i lost track! ;) once back at the hotel, he popped the question - on one knee of course!!! i knew that it was coming as we have talked about it BUT i didn't expect it that night and was pretty surprised! i think the first words out of my mouth were 'are you kidding?' then followed by an ' OF COURSE!!!!', of course. the ring is absolutely stunning - not only can i not stop smiling but i can't stop looking at my finger!!! :)
so, let the planning begin!!! ...just to confirm the festivities will be taking place back home - not in a majalis out in the desert...open or closed - toed shoes, some have asked...watch this space! :)
