diamonds & turbo shandy's

we have arrived back from a great five day trip to the uk.

we spent the first two days in london where we caught up with friends over dinner and TOO many drinks ;) mike and i hung out during the day and wandered around the familiar city. we even wandered into rhys ifans (sienna miller's not-so-cute, welsh ex-boyfriend) having lunch with a friend. the weather was okay - definitely not july weather BUT definitely not hot, humid doha weather.

the friday morning we caught a train to taunton in somerset.after approx. two hours we arrived at the stunning halswell house where the wedding weekend was taking place. halswell is a glorious grade 1 listed estate with a tudor manor dating back to the mid-sixteenth century. between the manor house and the cottages located throughout the grounds, all 80 guests enjoyed a big weekend sleepover!! mike and i were one of the lucky ones who stayed in the manor which meant just a short stroll to all the festivities.the weekend was perfectly organized by karan, the bride. she did a fantastic job and didn't overlook a detail. on friday the weekend celebrations started with a picnic lunch on the front lawn followed by garden games which included archery, laser shooting, cricket, croquet - for the children a punch and judy show and a bouncy castle...some adults enjoyed this as well ;) tea was served later in the afternoon...good thing as it helped warm us up from the chilly british wind!! later that evening we had a hog roast, as you do. of course i gladly consumed my share of the pig :)

saturday was the wedding. the weather started out a bit dodgy but blue skies prevailed in the end!! the ceremony was intimate and flawless - i wouldn't have done anything differently. the wedding breakfast (as they call it in england) aka dinner was held in one of the most beautiful rooms in the manor. continuous champagne and turbo shandy's (a mix of beer and shirmnoff ice...don't ask!) flowed which had everyone dancing well into the early morning.
all the fun came to an end on sunday after a bbq lunch on the lawn with the bride and groom, mr. & mrs. dawson. reluctantly, mike and i boarded a train back to london where we caught yet another train to the airport. off we went to the desert once again - sad that our fairytale weekend is over...but estatic that myles and karan's new life is just beginning...xx

No, unfortunately I lost half the pictures on my camera - the ones of Mike and I :( Mike looked pretty dope in his penguin suit though.
