TGIT!!!

'thank god it's thursday' it what they say here as the weekend is friday, saturday - friday being the holy day.

it was my (mike) first day of work yesterday, so TGIT is right. actually, i am really excited to be working. i feel like i have learned and contributed more in two days than i did in a month at my last job. everything here moves at the speed of light which is refreshing, buildings are flying up, projects starting all the time, massive budgets and tonnes of people/business trying to get in on the action. but, the pace around the office seems quite relaxed, everyone takes time for prayer and lunch out of the office. speaking of lunch, the office has 'drink boys" that continually come to my office to see if i would like anything - you name it, i can get it. honestly, i would never have to get up......except to use the loo. the nicest part is that everyone leaves the office around 3:30pm (start at 7am) allowing much needed time to finish emails, etc. you can actually get home before 6pm here after having a really productive day. anyways, two days in and really excited for the challenge ahead........

(ps. dad, the datacentres that we are building are in the middle of a massive construction zone in the desert. needless to say my shoes are a mess. that shoe kit you got for christmas is perfect!!!!)

to top it off, i got my temp car today. a nice 4x4 Ford Explorer. remember when i said that kris needed a tank, well this is it even if she can't drive it.......yet.

so, with the car in tow we obviously had to go to the mall. kris needed to get a SIM card for her phone. unfortunately, we mis-judged the closing time of the mall (10pm) and just missed the phone place. oh well, we will have to make another trip this weekend.

can't wait to go for another drive tomorrow......
