just six words

i read an interesting article a while back that i have been meaning to blog about for some time. it was printed in the local newspaper here in doha. the article was called 'write your memoir in just six words' and was inspired by writer larry smith. larry smith is a believer that a few words can distill lifetimes and that if you chose your words carefully you can tell a very powerful story. some examples, 'girlfriend is pregnant, my husband said'...'revenge is living well without you'...'i was born, some assembly required'...'people lie, keep trying to believe'...'was father, boys died, still sad'...all short but telling tales. to some six words isn't as scary as a blank page waiting to be filled.

the whole memoir thing apparently started way back with hemingway when somebody asked him for a six word story. he wrote...'for sale: baby shoes, never worn'...a very sad one.
